The University of Hong Kong is a educational institution that offers a higher education in fields such as architecture, arts, business and economics, dentistry, education, engineering, law, and more. The university also conducts research with multiple projects being managed by its professors. Such research topics include nasopharyngeal carcinoma, electronic design automation, and chemical biology research.
In 2020, the university ran multiple research projects with the goal of finding a therapy for COVID-19. One such research undertaking involved hamsters as test subjects. Hamsters were injected with blood serum from recovered hamsters before being injected with COVID-19 and researchers found that their viral load was ten times smaller than those not injected with the serum. The university is awaiting approval to move forward with studies on humans.
