Tayco Engineering, Inc. Cypress, California-based aviation and aerospace company. Tayco was founded in 1971 by Charles Taylor and is now under the direction of President and CEO Dr. Jay Chung, PhD. Tayco manufactures electrical heaters and temperature sensors for aerospace applications and currently employs over 165 employees at its Cypress, California facility.

Over the past forty years, Tayco has acquired a diverse range of capabilities in research, development, and manufacturing and greatly expanded its line of products to service the medical, defense, nuclear, semi-conductor, and aerospace industries. Tayco designs and manufactures heating systems, temperature sensors, flexible cable, and other specialty products for worldwide marketing.

Tayco's customer base has steadily grown to over 700 globally, with over 17,500 flight designs produced. The company has participated in most of the major space programs, every single manned spacecraft and deep space probe, space shuttles, Space Station Freedom, and the majority of orbiting satellites (commercial and defense applications). Tayco is a NASA Certified Supplier and has established itself as a preferred or mandatory source for numerous critical applications.

Tayco Engineering, Inc. offers products to multiple industries including aerospace, defense, industries, medical, nuclear, and semi conductor. The company has five major product groups.

These are flexible heaters that are lightweight, rugged, and offer excellent heat transfer. Heating elements are constructed from etched foil or fine wire elements. Polyimide film, silicone rubber, pre-preg fabrics, and epoxy laminates are commonly used materials. Pressure sensitive adhesives can be bonded to heater surfaces for quick and easy installation.

These rugged heaters can withstand temperatures up to 4,200 F and are built for a wide variety of applications and industries. Precision welding and brazing with fine wire joining techniques have been developed and refined over the years.

Flat ribbon flexible cable is available in a diverse range of sizes and configurations. Multi-conductor, multi-layered flex, and semi-rigid flex circuitry can be fully designed and manufactured to technically demanding specifications. Full cable assembly connector termination and testing are performed on site.

Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), thermocouples, and thermistors are produced to precision accuracy covering a temperature range of -425 to 1,800 deg. F. Rigid and flexible configurations are available.

Specialty products include pressure switches, flow measurement devices, infrared black body radiation sources, composite heaters, and more.

Tayco is certified to ISO-9001, AS9001, and ANSI-NCSL-Z540-1. All equipment is maintained to NIST Standards and all documentation is retained on file permanently.

Tayco's plant includes a fully equipped machine shop, twenty-one lamination tables, a photo imaging system, an etching system, a fully equipped test area, modular production quarters, a clean room, two cable laminating machines, and equipment to support full CAD capabilities. All products are designed, manufactured, and tested at the Cypress location and include the following product manufacturing processes and features:

• Flexible circuit and heater lamination: twenty-one lamination tables ranging from 1 to 40 feet in length and up to 36 inches in width
• Precision chemical etching: copper, nickel alloys, aluminum, and other exotic alloys .0005" thickness and above
• Single and multiple layer flex cable lamination, starting at widths of .0625 inches
• Fine wire coils and winding: precision winding machines that facilitate precision coils for sensing and heating
• Machining (CNC) : milling, turning, grinding, and cutting of a variety of metals and ceramics
• Hydraulic Press: expoxies, composites, acrylics film

• Teflon Films including FEP films, TFE films, PTFE films, ETFE films
• Polyimide (Kapton) films
• Cured and uncured Silicones
• Pre-preg and other composites
• Fine wire resistance and precious metal wire (platinum and platinum /rhodium)
• Bar, sheet, and foil—inconel, nickel, copper, aluminum, tungsten, balco, molybdenum, TZM, and assorted exotics
