TASS

TASS is a Soviet and Russian state news agency at the federal level.

TASS information products are received by more than 5,000 corporate subscribers in Russia and abroad, including more than 1,000 media outlets, 200 diplomatic missions, more than 250 financial companies and banks, more than 2,000 industrial enterprises, scientific and educational institutions, libraries[4].

Almost two thousand employees ensure the work of TASS in real time. Regional information centers in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg, dozens of bureaus in the regions of Russia, as well as 59 agency offices in 56 countries, allow you to quickly receive and distribute objective information about events in Russia and the world to the widest possible audience. In 16 countries, TASS correspondents are the only representatives of the Russian media.

Every day, TASS releases about 3 thousand messages and about 600-800 photographs and videos from its own correspondents in Russia and abroad, forming a complete and objective picture of events. Subscribers, including Russian and foreign media, federal and regional government bodies, diplomatic missions of foreign states, business structures and public organizations, have access to a wide range of more than 70 news feeds and thematic services in Russian, English, Spanish, French and Chinese.

The main digital product of the agency is the tass.ru website, one of the largest online media platforms in Russia. In 2021, its audience exceeded 267 million users. The number of unique visitors per month is over 34 million.

TASS content is presented in all social networks available in Russia. TASS posts and videos in them scored about 83 billion views in 2021.

Modern digital projects and media resources are being developed under the TASS brand. Among them are the informational and educational project "This is the Caucasus" and the "New" project, aimed at children and adolescents, as well as thematic podcasts.

TASS special projects, which are detailed stories created using 360° video, infographics, motion graphics and other modern formats, won about 80 awards at prestigious professional Russian and international competitions from 2017 to 2021. Among them: Runet Award, Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards, Malofiej, Red Dot Design Award, SND Best of Digital, European Design Awards. Among the most titled special projects: “Italy. The story of one fall”, “Mercator. O marvelous flat world”, “Poltava, Karl!”, “Dante's circles”, “Leonov, your way out!”, “Cosmonauts”, “When Napoleon came”.

The TASS data bank contains tens of millions of documents, which allows the agency to accompany almost any news with comprehensive information about the event.

TASS holds over 1,500 press events every year. Their participants are the political leaders of Russia and foreign states, representatives of the largest Russian and foreign companies, cultural, scientific and sports figures.

TASS.Conferences is the organizer of high-profile business events in offline and online formats. Since 2016, the division has hosted over 500 events. Among them are the annual business forum "Invest in the Caucasus" and the online forum "100% Tatarstan".

Mediabank TASS is the largest collection of archival and modern photo and video reports among the information services of the CIS, numbering 44 million pieces of content. It consists of contemporary works by TASS correspondents in Russia and abroad, archival photographs from the beginning of the 20th century, as well as materials from the agency's partners.

TASS is the organizer of the international photo contest for professional photojournalists News Photo Awards, which is attended by representatives of the world's leading media.

On the basis of TASS, a unique educational center has been created - the Academy of News. Its training programs are designed specifically for journalists, content managers, press officers and public relations departments.

TASS maintains partnerships with more than 370 media outlets from 134 countries. The Agency heads the Russian Committee of the UNESCO International Program for the Development of Communications, is a member of the Intergovernmental Council of UNESCO on Information and Communications (IPDC), the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO. In 1999, on the initiative of TASS, the World Association of Russian Press (WARP) was created - the only worldwide association of Russian-speaking journalists.

TASS is an active and authoritative member of world and regional organizations: the World Media Summit (WMS), the World News Agencies Congress (NAWC), the European News Agencies Alliance (EANA), the Organization of Asia and the Pacific News Agencies (OANA), the Federation of Arab News Agencies ( FANA), the Atlantic Federation of African News Agencies (FAAPA), the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies (BSANNA), the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS (CIS Information Council) and the Association of National News Agencies of the CIS Member States (ANIA).
