Strive (stylized as STRIVE) is a venture capital firm based in Tokyo, Japan. The firm also has an office in Singapore.
The firm was founded in 2011 and was originally called GREE Ventures; the firm rebranded itself to Strive in May 2019, coinciding with the firm raising its third venture capital fund.
GREE, a Tokyo-based mobile game development company, is one of several limited partners which have invested in Strive's funds. Nikhil Kapur, a partner at the firm, told TechCrunch that the firm's rebrand was motivated in part by confusion over the firm's financial and management structure. He stated that "[the firm is] quite independent from Gree, plus we’re not a corporate fund and we’re not investing in gaming."
Strive makes its investments at seed and early-stage. The firm leads and participates in venture funding rounds typically totaling $10 million (or foreign currency equivalent).
Strive's portfolio primarily consists of companies in the e-commerce, software as a service (SaaS), and information technology sectors. The firm's portfolio companies include Hasura, Zenport, Five Inc., Travelstop, and SixSense, among others.
