Sitekit is a UK based digital innovation company specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Digital Health solutions including the eRedbook PHR. The company was founded in Portree on the Isle of Skye, and has additional office locations in Edinburgh and Bloxham.

Sitekit’s identity business unit specializes in identity, assurance and data security. Sitekit offers consultancy services that define, design and build the systems needed to support digital identity services. Sitekit’s identity consultants test and deploy integrated identity and IT services using Microsoft Azure AD B2C.

Sitekit has developed middleware for interoperability and digital pathway delivery. Sitekit pioneered the communication, interoperability and identity authentication layers that enable personal health information to flow securely between statutory healthcare provider IT systems and personal devices.

eRedbook is a digital version of the universal paper ‘red book’ personal child health record given to all new parents to manage their child’s health between the age of 0 and 5 in the UK. eRedbook supports parents to effectively manage their child’s health and development using a familiar digital format.

Lifebook is a technology platform developed to support mobile health apps. It is a platform that can be customized to support healthcare apps targeted at specific care pathways. Lifebook encompasses an electronic Person Held Record (PHR) with additional features for health professional messaging, reminders, pathway alerts and record patient observations.

Sitekit CMS is a browser based platform for the creation and ongoing maintenance of websites, intranets and portals. With customers ranging from SMEs and third-sector, to large multi-nationals and public bodies, Sitekit CMS has a track-record in the delivery of standards compliant and user-friendly digital platforms.

The Local and Regional Government (LRG) Citizen Identity Platform enables the delivery of a functional, cloud-based citizen identity platform that underpins government to citizen transactions, in a live environment, ready to integrate with an authority’s digital apps and services.

Sitekit was originally founded by Campbell Grant as Bambi Engineering Ltd in 1989 on the Isle of Skye, providing computer control systems for the oil industry. The company’s remote location led to the development of expertise in electronic communications, file exchange, bulletin boards and early email systems as well as process control and shutdown safety systems.

With the advent of the World Wide Web, the business began to focus on internet, e-business and multimedia solutions and changed its name to Gael.net Ltd to reflect this change. Gael.net earned a reputation for innovative solutions and excellence in customer service, producing numerous award winning websites for commercial and public sector customers.

Software guru Chris Eckl joined Sitekit with a vision to build a dynamic website management system to enable non-technical users to directly manage their web site via a simple browser interface. Sitekit CMS v1 was launched at CeBIT in Hanover and was an immediate hit with customers.

November 2006 saw the launch of Sitekit CMS v7 which was designed to lead the web CMS market through advances in natural search engine optimization, software usability, and web site accessibility standards compliance. Sitekit CMS v7 was launched and won the International Information Industry Award for Innovation in Content Management. The company was a member of the Deloitte Fast 50 for the fifth year running and a sales office was opened in Oxfordshire to service the wider UK market.

The R&D division Sitekit Labs was launched to research intelligent web applications. The Lab was opened by Mike Grandinetti of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who became a Sitekit Labs fellow.

A growing focus on digital health saw the launch of the InnovateUK funded dallas (Delivering Assisted Living Lifestyles at Scale) programme. Sitekit were involved in driving all four Dallas seed projects, building on the work of Sitekit labs to take the lead in creating the Mi (More Independent) and Living it Up self-care platforms – designed to enable people to self-manage long-term conditions and improve their health using tailored support and a circle of care.

Identity and Access Management (IAM) emerged as a fundamental building block in digital, with the ‘Mi’ (More Independent) and ‘Living it Up’ Self-Care platforms marking Sitekit’s venture into the identity space. Sitekit signed up to begin testing Microsoft Azure AD B2C identity platform. September 2012 Sitekit opened a new office in Edinburgh's Leith area to support expansion in the Scottish market and recruitment of additional staff. It was also the year of Sitekit’s first successful symposium on the 'Future of eHealth', organised in collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University.

2013 was a very successful year for digital health and Sitekit released the first iteration of the digital child health record eRedbook.

Over the course of 2015-17 Sitekit delivered successful proof-of-concept work that validated technologies and market need. Early in 2017 Sitekit’s Identity Business Unit was formed to address the Identity and Access Management (IAM) market. Sitekit expanded its offerings across sectors, developing a Local and Regional Government (LRG) Citizen digital identity platform in collaboration with Microsoft. The eRedbook rollout continues with the product poised to begin national rollout with NHS England in 2018/19.
