The Pasteur Institute is a Paris-based non-profit organization with a stated mission of preventing and treating diseases through research, education, and public health initiatives. The institute has educational and research facilities as well as a conference center and museum.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute sequenced the genome of the virus in order to understand it better. It chose to utilize proprietary measles vector technology to develop a vaccine for the virus. It collaborated with other companies and organizations, such as the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
