National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (国立研究開発法人産業技術総合研究所), also known as AIST, is a Japanese National Research and Development Agency headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The organization was founded on April 1, 2001 and focuses on industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare.

AIST has a subsidiary, the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, and has spun out a company called Miraisens, Inc.. Throughout its existence, AIST has been assigned a total of 710 patents.
