Morena (company)

Morena is a San Francisco-based technology company that focuses on matching people of color (POC) with makeup and beauty products that suit the community's needs.

Morena's stated goal is to take out the guessing of whether a cosmetic color is going to match a POC's skin tone or if a beauty product is going to contain the ingredients needed to best serve POC. It also connects companies that make other beauty products, such as shampoo and soap, to users looking for products that meet their specific, niche, or under-represented needs.

Morena is an app that matches the personal needs of people from underrepresented communities to products that will best serve the user. The user can then leave reviews and the app will relay more relevant products to the user, based on the reviews. The reviews contain data that is useful specifically to POCs, intended to make it easier to search for appropriate products for ones' skin and hair type. The user can also search for products that are cruelty-free, vegan, and/or minority owned.
