Mila, a Zurich-based, crowd-services platform, offers users peer-to-peer tech-support services.
The platform distributes people into Mila Friends - tech enthusiasts who want to earn money for helping people understand or set up technology; Mila Pros - professionals looking to make extra money outside of their work; or Mila Pro Dispatchers - business owners using Mila to find more customers.
Mila vets their Mila Friends to ensure their knowledge base. They put their professional service providers, their Mila Pros, through a similar vetting process.
Mila was built in 2013 by Chris Viatte as a spin-off of Coresystems, a field-services provider which specializes in mobile platforms. Payments are handled through PayPal. Chris Viatte, speaking on Mila, said:
Everyone should be able to benefit from technological progress. Mila enables people to find an expert partner in their neighborhood on demand.
In March of 2015, Mila raised $3.2 million. Investors included Peter Zencke and Adrian Bult.
In 2015, Swisscom acquired the majority stake in Mila Inc. Chris Viatte, before starting Mila, worked for Swisscom.
