MAXIMILLIAN MICHAEL BROOKS
He was born May 22, 1972, in New York City, USA. A few years later their family moved to Los Angeles.
He is the son of the famous actor, producer, screenwriter, director Mel Brooks and actress Anne Bancroft.
He attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. At the time, his favorite book was The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy, and his favorite subject was history.
In 1994, he graduated from the School of Cinematography at the American Institute.
From 2001 to 2003, he worked on the writing team of the television comedy show "Saturday Night Live," for which he won an Emmy Award.
He worked for a while as an associate producer on the BBC television channel.
Max is also known as a writer, the author of two books about zombies. The first is a humorous reference book, The Zombie Survival Guide, published in October 2003, on how to survive when zombies are around. And in September 2006 his novel, World War Z, was published.
No sooner had that book been released than wars broke out between Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt's production companies around its film adaptation. Pitt's "Plan B" won. And the rights themselves were acquired by Paramount Pictures. The premiere is scheduled for 2010.
In October 2006, Max Brooks announced that he would not participate in the work on the script, as he felt he was not an experienced enough screenwriter to "do it." J. Michael Straczynski has been brought in for the job.
Max is dyslexic. He says of his condition, "It just takes me longer to read than other people. I have to memorize almost every word and if there are a lot of new words - I'm in trouble.
He was engaged in September 2002 and has been married to Michelle Kolos since 2003. They had a son, Henry Michael Brooks, in April 2005.
He lives in Los Angeles.
