Mel Brooks, born Melvin Kaminsky on June 28, 1926, is an American actor, film director, screenwriter, film producer, composer, songwriter, writer, theatrical producer, soldier, television producer, lyricist, and journalist. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and holds citizenship in the United States.
Brooks attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, Brooklyn College, and the Virginia Military Institute. He is perhaps best known for his creation of the television show "Get Smart". Mel's notable works include films such as "Blazing Saddles", "High Anxiety", "Spaceballs", "Silent Movie", "Young Frankenstein", "Robin Hood: Men in Tights", "Dracula: Dead and Loving It", and "Life Stinks".
Mel is the father of Max Brooks, who is also a writer and has made a name for himself in the literary world.
