Ladislaus Bortkiewicz (born 7 August 1868, Saint Petersburg; died 15 July 1931, Berlin) was a mathematician, economist, and statistician. He held citizenship in Poland, the Russian Empire, and the Soviet Union. Bortkiewicz pursued his education at the University of Strasbourg and the University of Göttingen, eventually becoming a professor.
Bortkiewicz studied under doctoral advisor Wilhelm Lexis and, in turn, had notable doctoral student Wassily Leontief. One of his most notable works is the "Law of small numbers".
