The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a peer-to-peer hypermedia distribution protocol using a distributed file system for the internet for building decentralized internet infrastructure. IPFS was released by Protocol Labs and is made to replace the most widely used online protocol called the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). IPFS issues unique cryptographic hashes for each file, removes duplications, each IPFS network node stores related files under a unique hash, and every file can be found with human-readable names that are created with a decentralized naming system called the InterPlanetary Name Space (IPNS).
