Ian Murdock (born Ian Ashley Murdock on April 28, 1973)(place_of_birth: Konstanz) was a computer scientist, engineer, and programmer from the United States. As the founder of Debian, a popular Linux distribution, he made notable contributions in the field of open-source software. Murdock was also the creator of Debian.
He attended William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana, before continuing his studies at Purdue University in the United States. Debian, an open-source operating system, is one of his most known works.
Murdock passed away in San Francisco on December 28, 2015.
