Genshin Impact is a computer game that has been developed by HoYoverse. It is an open-world action role-playing game that can be played on a personal computer with Windows, PlayStation 4, or 5. It can also be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. The game can be played in ten different languages, including Mandarin, Korean, Spanish, and English. It was launched in September 2020, and in approximately six months, it was reported that the game had surpassed $1 billion in player spending.

The game takes place in Teyvat, and players are referred to as Travelers. The story is that sibling Travelers have arrived separately from a different planet and have had their powers stripped. They must travel across Teyvat to find each of the seven gods, who will give them insights on how to find their sibling. There are several different towns that can be visited in the world, including Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru. There are indications on the game's website that there will be more towns added to the game.
Travelers can explore the world independently or team up with other players, which would be useful if they should come upon a battle. Players can choose from more than twenty characters, which all have different appearances and strengths.
