Edwin Howard Armstrong was born on December 18, 1890, in Manhattan and held citizenship in the United States . He was an engineer, physicist, and scientist who was educated at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science .
Armstrong was known for his notable work on the Armstrong oscillator . He passed away on January 31, 1954, in New York City . In recognition of his contributions, Armstrong was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1980 .
