The Carolina Angel Network is a Chapel Hill, North Carolina based venture capital firm. Founded in 2016, Carolina Angel Network was founded by and supported by the University of North Carolina's Office of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, UNC Development Office, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the UNC Law School and Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration. Carolina Angel Network started evaluating its first deals in February 2017.
Carolina Angel Network's stated mission is to support the University of North Carolina's startup community with funding and advice from alumni who are members of the network.
They invest in companies operating in the Medical Devices, Medical Diagnostics sectors and consider non-life science investments with solid revenue metrics and a working version of a product. For Medical Devices, they look to make investments in companies with a working product, with FDA approval focused on introducing the product to the market. For Medical Diagnostics companies, they look for companies with products in market for 6-12 months with positive feedback and FDA approval.
