Founded in October of 2015 by Shantanu Deshpande, Bombay Shaving Company is a self-grooming brand for men and women in India. The company was founded after Deshpande conversed with a colleague who worked at Harry's, an American grooming company. As a result, Deshpande realized there was a market need for a similar brand in India.
As of August 2017, the company claimed to have over 12,000 customers and was chosen by Amazon for a global launch. In July 2021, Bombay Shaving Company signed famous cricket player R Ashwin as a brand ambassador. Ashwin will be featured in an omnichannel campaign called "Shave to Shine" that will feature new products, social media efforts, retail branding, and influencers.
