Bing Chat Enterprise is an AI-powered chat tool for work developed by Microsoft with commercial data protection. Bing Chat Enterprise protects user and business data, making it inaccessible to Microsoft and not usable to train AI models. Microsoft also does not save chat data from Bing Chat Enterprise. Grounded in web data like Bing Chat, Bing Chat Enterprise offers similar functionality, answering user questions with citations, providing visual answers (including graphs and charts), and generating content.
Bing Chat Enterprise was announced at Microsoft Inspire 2023, becoming available in preview on July 18, 2023. Users can access Bing Chat Enterprise online or the Microsoft Edge sidebar using their work account. Microsoft plans to also make it accessible in Windows Copilot. For customers licensed for Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium, Bing Chat Enterprise is available at no additional cost. A stand-alone version of Bing Chat Enterprise is being offered at $5 per user per month. Bing Chat Enterprise is supported in all the same regions as Bing Chat, making it available in over 160 regions around the world.
From mid-August 2023, Bing Chat Enterprise will be on by default for customers with the relevant licenses. Customers can enable it before mid-August by opting in from the admin controls of the Bing website.
Bing Chat Enterprise caters to corporate customers that want to use generative AI tools but are concerned about protecting their data. In 2023, a number of companies, including Apple, Samsung, and various Wall Street banks, restricted their employees from using generative AI tools. For example, ChatGPT from OpenAI explicitly states that user prompts are used to train its models unless they specifically opt out.
