ChatGPT Enterprise is a business-focused version of ChatGPT from OpenAI that offers enterprise-grade security and privacy, scalable deployment tools, unlimited high-speed access to GPT-4 and Advanced Data Analysis with longer context windows and customization options. OpenAI described the release of ChatGPT as
another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and that protects your company data.
ChatGPT enterprise can perform the same tasks as ChatGPT while offering additional privacy and data analysis capabilities, enhanced performance, and customization options. ChatGPT Enterprise provides users with a new admin console and tools to manage how employees interact and use the platform. This includes integrations for single sign-on, domain verification, and a dashboard with usage statistics. ChatGPT Enterprise also provides unlimited access to Advanced Data Analysis, a ChatGPT feature previously called Code Interpreter that was only available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. ChatGPT Enterprise customers get priority access to GPT-4, delivering performance that is twice as fast as standard access to GPT-4 with extended context windows of 32,000 tokens (approximately 25,000 words).
ChatGPT Enterprise was made available early to a number of companies, including Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier. OpenAI launched ChatGPT enterprise on August 28, 2023, making it widely available. OpenAI sees ChatGPT Enterprise as complementary to ChatGPT Plus and has no plans to remove its original paid subscription product. OpenAI plans to onboard as many enterprises as possible immediately after launch while also working on new features. These include:
- Customization features that extend the model's knowledge using customer data and connect to other applications
- Availability regardless of team size, including a self-serve ChatGPT Business offering for smaller teams
- Tools using more powerful versions of advanced data analysis and browsing that are optimized for work
- Additional tools for specific roles including data analysts, marketers, and customer support
OpenAI announced privacy commitments accompanying the release of ChatGPT enterprise. These included details around data ownership, control, and security.
