Alfa-Bank is the largest private bank in Russia, ranking fourth in terms of assets (4,788,862 million rubles as of July 1, 2021). At the end of 2021, the number of private clients increased to 22 million, the number of corporate clients exceeded 1 million. In the retail segment, the bank ranks third with a share of over 5%. It has 499 offices (the main one is in Moscow).
History
1991 - Obtained a license from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for banking operations.
1992 - The first branch of Alfa-Bank was opened in Moscow.
1993 - The Bank became a member of the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange. Obtained General License for Banking Operations.
1994 - The Bank became a member of the international credit card system MasterCard/Europay. Petr Aven was appointed President of the Bank.
1995 - The Bank becomes a member of Factors Chain International, the largest international factoring organization. Alfa-Bank opened its Representative Office in London.
1996 - Alfa-Bank opened its branch in Nizhny Novgorod. Received the status of a full member of Visa International.
1997 - Alfa-Bank opened its branches in Samara and Saint-Petersburg. Alfa-Bank became the first private Russian bank to issue Eurobonds. Obtained a license from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for brokerage and dealer activities, licenses for conducting operations on trust management of securities, depository activities.
2001 - At the beginning of November 2001, Alfa-Bank's plastic card issue reached 200,000 cards, an increase of almost 80% since the beginning of the year.
2004 - Alfa-Bank acted as an official partner of the Russian volleyball team at the XXVIII Summer Olympic Games in Athens, which took place from 14 to 29 August 2004 in Greece.
2007 - As part of the development of the regional retail network, Alfa-Bank opened 100 credit and cash offices in 43 Russian cities.Alfa-Bank issued more than 100,000 Aeroflot-MasterCard-ALFA-BANK payment cards, exceeding the annual issuance plan.
2009 - The first branch of Alfa-Bank for servicing individuals was opened in Nizhny Tagil.
2010 - A banking application for smartphones and communicators on the Android operating system has been released.
2015 - In 2015, the number of Alfa Bank branches increased to 50, and the number of clients to 14 million people.
2018 - Alfa Bank received the status of the official European bank of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
