Established in 2018, Air Up is based on the concept of retronasal smell, meaning tasting with the nose. The brand launched in Germany in 2019 and expanded into nine European countries, including Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
In 2022, the scent-flavored hydration company announced its entry into the United States. The brand's flavor pods are available in ten flavors, including lemon, cucumber, orangeade, and mango-passion fruit. Air Up's flavor pods and bottles are sold on its website in a starter set, which includes a bottle and a pack of three flavor pods. Consumers are also able to purchase packs of three standalone flavor pods.
In 2023, The company launched a collection of reusable bottles in the European market. The Air Up Generation 2 bottles are manufactured in the European Union (EU), with ranges including sizes of 2.5 cups and 4.2 cups. The brand's expansion has been funded by Five Seasons Ventures, with contributions from investors like PepsiCo, Ippen.Media, and Oyster Bay.
