Vlone is a fashion brand that was founded by several artists in the A$AP Mob. The brand creates clothing based on inspiration from the area where some of the founders are from, which is Harlem, a district in New York City. The company was founded in 2010 in New York City and has since had pop-up shops in places such as Tokyo.
In October 2022, there was a major split in the company. One of the founders, A$AP Bari (whose legal name is Jabari Shelton), was forced out of the company due to "irrational behavior," which appears to have begun in at least 2017, when he sexually assaulted a woman and later pleaded guilty to those charges of sexual assault. Shelton then launched another version of Vlone, using the same name and logo.
Vlone's products are high-end street fashion and accessories. Products include unisex clothing, such as t-shirts, vests, pants, jackets, and hoodies. The company's accessories include hats, bags, and jewelry.
According to the company's website, there are also plans to release lifestyle products and fragrances. The website states these products will be launched in 2023.
Official Vlone products can be found on the website that has the company's motto, "live Vlone die Vlone," in the URL. Furthermore, products purchased after 2021 can be authenticated to prove that they are from the original Vlone company and not the one that was launched by Shelton.
The authentication process uses technology from Certilogo. Consumers can verify the authenticity of their purchase by entering a code that is attached to the product into the verification box that is located on the Vlone website. Alternatively, consumers can scan with their smartphone the QR code that is located on the tag of their product and follow the prompts to verify the product's authenticity.
In May 2023, Shelton filed a temporary restraining order and order to show a preliminary injunction against his former business partners in an attempt to halt operations at the original Vlone company. That request was denied by the judge.
The complaint was then amended to include a lawsuit for the rights to the name and logo. According to legal documents, Shelton is accusing his former business partners of fraudulently obtaining trademarks to the name.
