Unlikely AI is a developer of artificial intelligence technology and systems intended to be product-centric and capable of interacting with people to produce explanations. This includes developing safe, trustworthy, and powerful artificial intelligence and AI systems that enable highly intelligent automated systems that enable humans to flourish. To make AI systems that are safe, accurate, and trustworthy, Unlikely AI is developing them to be explainable and offer a level of transparency. Unlikely AI is aiming to use this approach to solve some of the artificial intelligence field's more difficult problems.
Unlikely AI was founded in 2018 by William Tunstall-Pedoe and is based in London. Tunstall-Pedoe is known for his role in the development of Amazon Alexa when his first company, Evi Technologies, which developed voice assistant technology with language understanding and question-answer capability, was acquired by Amazon and used in part to launch Alexa.
Unlikely AI's first example of their AI technology came in the Crossword Genius app. The app is an AI app containing Unlikely AI's Ross AI, which can solve and explain difficult and cryptic crossword clues. To do this, the app uses machine vision to read crosswords found in newspapers using a device's camera, and the solving of the clue is done on the device.
