Taizo Son is a Japanese entrepreneur, businessman, and investor. He has been involved with businesses across various industries including games, media, and telecommunications.
Son was born in Fukuoka, Japan on September 29, 1972 and is one of four children to his parents. He studied at the University of Tokyo from 1989 until 1993, earning multiple degrees in the fields of Business Administration, Business Reprocessing Engineering, and Economics, all of which were Bachelor 's degrees.
In 2002, Son founded GungHo Online and launched mobile application which made him a billionaire, called Puzzles and Dragons. He founded his next company, a start-up accelerator called Movida, in 2009. Following this company, he founded a venture capital company called Mistletoe in 2013. The firm also acts as a hub for its portfolio companies.
In 2017, Son started to focus his attention on education. Working with companies in places such as Singapore and Estonia, he began investing in companies that focus on education and entrepreneurship.
