Founded in 1998, Rothschild R Capital, also known as R Capital Management, was the corporate venture capital and private equity arm of Rothschild & Co and the Edmond de Rothschild Group. The firm made growth equity investments across Europe in both strategic investments and growth opportunity investments. They focused on the media, internet, technology, healthcare, energy and services sectors and invested in companies with revenues of between €10 million and €150 million.
In 2013, Rothschild R Capital, led by Jean-Michel Beghin, Jérôme Pujol and Pierre Rémy, spun out of their parent group, which had previously owned an undisclosed majority stake of R Capital. The firm rebranded as Keensight Capital and announced their continued investment strategy. Part of the decision to spin out of the Edmond de Rothschild Group came after the banking group took steps to build an integrated private equity platform.
