Rajaie Batniji is the co-founder and chief health officer of Collective Health, a company that develops insurance products for employers. He co-founded the company with Ali Diab in 2013, after Diab experienced a series of difficulties with his insurance providers after his medical treatment for an intestinal issue. Batniji is also a resident physician in internal medicine at Stanford Medical Center.
Batniji was born in Gaza and moved to the United States when he was two years old. His father was a dentist who received a scholarship from the University of Southern California (USC). He grew up in Diamond Hill, California. Batniji has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in history from Stanford University, as well as a doctor of medicine degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He also has a doctoral degree in international relations from Oxford University on Marshall Scholarship. He is married to Hala Borno, a medical oncologist in Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and an assistant professor at USCF.
