Quanergy

Quanergy is an electronics manufacturing company that produces 3D LiDAR sensors and smart perception software. The San Jose, California-based company was cofounded in 2012 by Angus Pacala, then-CEO Louay Eldada, and Tianyue Yu, who all left the organization in 2015, 2020, and 2023, respectively. Quanergy's current management team consists of CEO Enzo Signore, Chairman Simon Vine, and board members Tamer Hassanein and Alexander Turkot, among others.

In December 2022, Quanergy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. On February 23, 2023, Quanergy was purchased by Hassanein and other investors in an auction administered by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Quanergy specializes in LiDAR (short for light detection and ranging) sensors, which emit low-power invisible light out into a specific area and then measure the time it takes for the light to return to the sensor. The resulting data is then used to generate a three-dimensional point cloud image, which provides spatial location and depth information. Quanergy offers both the M1-Edge and M8-Prime LiDAR sensors as well as its Q-Track perception software. The company sells its products mostly in the industrial space and advertises that its LiDAR solutions can be used in critical infrastructure, smart cities, and industrial automation.
