Philips is a Dutch multinational electronics and health technology company focused on improving people's health and health care. The company was founded in 1891, by Gerard and Frederik Philips, in Nieuw-amsterdam, Drenthe, The Netherlands.

Philips is interested in providing healthcare to improve quality of life for 3 billion people by 2030. The company was originally created to manufacture incandescent lamps and other electrical products. They look to deliver innovations and solutions to both health systems and personal health. Diagnostic imaging, image-guided therapy, patient monitoring, home care, consumer health, and health informatics are Philips focus.

COVID-19

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Philips has been looking to respond to the constant evolution of the situation. They have set a central global task force and regional task force to monitor and support daily operations and to work with customers.

Philips' production has increased for certain critical care products and solutions that help diagnose and treat coronavirus patients. They recognize that patient vital sign monitors and portable ventilators are the most needed products, and has ramped up production on these products by double, and will continue at this rate for eight weeks. They have manufacturing sites in North America, Europe, and Asia with certified materials and component suppliers.

To accomplish the rise in production, Philips has hired additional manufacturing employees, added manufacturing lines with increased shifts (24/7), worked with suppliers to secure materials to feed the production efforts, and have also engage with third party contract manufacturers.
