Northzone is an early stage venture capital fund investing in technology companies that is headquartered in London, England and was founded in 1996 by Bjorn Stray and Tellef Thorleifsson. The companies has offices in the Olso, Norway, London, England, and New York City, New York. Notable investments made by Northzone include Spotify, iZettle, Trustpilot, Avito, Klarna, Wallapop, Pricerunner, NextGenTel, and Stepstone.

Northzone has raised a total of $1.3 billion across 8 funds.

Fund VII

On December 16, 2014 Northzone completed raising $325 million in funding for their Fund VII from European institutional investors. Northzone will be using the fund to focus its investments in financial technology, marketplaces media ecosystems and platforms, e-commerce, software-as-a-service, and gaming companies. The fund will be used to make seed investments of €500k to €1 million, early stage investments of €1M to €5M, and growth stage investments of €5M to €15M.


Their most recent fund, Northzone VIII, was announced on Sep 5, 2016, and was €300 million. The company plans on using the investment fund to make early stage investments in the series A, series B, and series C funding rounds of European technology companies. The company claims to have interest in using their Fund VII to make investments in financial technology, e-commerce, media, and business to business software-as-a-service companies.
