Park was an avid athlete and college basketball player who grew up during the early era of Title IX, the 1972 law that created new opportunities for young women to play sports. At that time, women's athletic attire was either ill-fitting or non-existent. This led Park to launch her company in 1989 with a mail-order catalog of running shorts, tights, and sports bras, naming it after the 1972 law. The company has grown into a $100 million dollar business without ever taking outside investment. Park remains the sole owner.

Women entrepreneurs participate in a pitchfest in the hopes of having their products sold on the Title Nine site and becoming a part of Title Nine’s entrepreneurial network of Movers & Makers.

Title Nine donated $1 million to the team in support of the team's fight for equal pay. Park and her company also committed to match all contributions up to an additional $250,000 made through the "Kick In for Equal Pay" initiative. She specifically asked for no sponsorship or endorsements in return, stating that her company does not sponsor athletes.
