Overview

MindMeister is an online mind mapping software. It is also available as a mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. Mindmeister is a product of MeisterLabs, and the first version of the software was launched in 2007. In 2008, it won the Red Herring 100 Europe award.

Features

MindMeister offers powerful features that let users collaborate and brainstorm online, plan projects, develop business strategies, create dynamic presentations, and utilize the countless benefits of mind maps for their education. Users can also add context to each topic with links, attachments, embeds, and integrations. Images, videos, and icons can also be incorporated into the mind maps.

MindMeister lets users log in with Facebook, Twitter, and Google and export maps to PDF, Word, and PowerPoint. Its dashboard offers premade sample mind maps and templates that range from basic brainstorming, to-do lists, and pre-writing to SWOT analysis, website planning, and meeting notes. In the workspace, users can choose a main theme, create child or sibling nodes, and add notes, images, icons, links, attachments, and formatting. Users can also associate tasks, icons, due dates, team assignments, and email reminders with any node. Sharing and chatting on the workspace screen with team members is also available.

MindMeister also offers a large library of Google-based public maps that users can browse for ideas and information, professional video tutorials, and a list of keyboard shortcuts.

MindMeister provides student and teacher discounts and offers free accounts with up to three mind maps in total.

Secured Hosting

MindMeister is a Trusted Cloud-certified service and is fully EU-GDPR compliant. All its products are hosted in the European Union with servers located in an ISO 27001-certified data center in Frankfurt, Germany.

Mind Mapping

Mind mapping is a technique developed in the 1970s by Tony Buzan as a visualization method for written information. The key topic is placed in the center of the map, and related ideas branch off from it in all directions. Originally a technique done on paper, online mind mapping tools add new dimensions to the process and enable real-time collaboration with others. The modern definition of mind mapping encompasses spider maps and bubble maps as well.
