Maslo is a Los Angeles-based mobile application company that uses voice recognition software to collect data from its user with the intended result of improving well-being. The company's application uses personified artificial intelligence and empathetic computing to find patterns and reflect insights to help an individual with personal growth. The company's application is eventually intended to help users develop healthier relationships with electronic assistants, with the first iteration focused on developing mindfulness.
The application prompts the user with a speaking topic. The user can choose to record their thoughts about the topic in the voice journal or tap another icon to be presented with another topic. The intended goal is to have the user record their thoughts about the topic for sixty seconds via voice journaling. Maslo's artificial intelligence then processes the recording using a neural network with the intention of finding patterns in emotions or topics. When the analysis is complete, the application presents an emotional summary of the voice entry along with an emoticon. The intended goal of this analysis is to aid its users in reflecting on their emotions and habits.
The application also offers a word cloud that shows the user the frequency with which they use specific words or phrases. Users are offered a chance to listen back to their recordings if they choose to use voice.
