Lots of Lands received an initial development grant from Human Guild, a DAO on the Near Protocol network that helps GameFi projects on Near. As a result, Lots of Lands will be built on NEAR, a blockchain with the scalability and functionality necessary to capably handle a game of this scope.

In the game, players will be able to accumulate resources, engage in defense and expansion campaigns, form businesses with each other, trade and much more.
Development on the project started earlier this year. When picking games in the GameFi space, players generally have to choose between a true gaming experience and a DeFi protocol in the form of an unplayable game. The Lots of Lands team set out to fix that.
Soon, gamers looking to earn while they play won’t have to choose between a great gaming experience and a glorified DeFi protocol. Lots of Lands will be offering a comprehensive gaming experience backed by a completely decentralized economy.
The first step for the project was sharing the Lots of Lands vision at the ETH.Denver conference, hiring the necessary specialists — two designers, a project manager, narrative writer, full stack developer and PR and communications specialists — to see the project to fruition, putting together our whitepaper, crafting the first screenshots from meta-earth, meeting with initial investors, and securing funding for the next development steps.
