Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac was a French physicist, chemist, politician, and engineer . Born on December 6, 1778, in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat , he held citizenship in France . Gay-Lussac is best known for his work on Charles's law and Gay-Lussac's law .
He received his education at several institutions, including the Polytechnic School , the University of Paris , and École des ponts ParisTech . Claude Louis Berthollet served as his doctoral advisor . Gay-Lussac passed away on May 9, 1850, in Paris .
