Johannes Fibiger

Johannes Fibiger (1867-1928) was a Danish physician, chemist, and bacteriologist born in Silkeborg. He received his education at the University of Copenhagen. Throughout his career, Fibiger held Danish citizenship and was known for his work in the academic discipline of parasitology.

Fibiger was a student of Robert Koch, a prominent microbiologist and physician. He is best known for his observations and research on the induction of cancer using Spiroptera carcinoma.

In 1926, Fibiger received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work. He passed away in 1928 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
