September 2014
Electrolux bought the rights to manufacture appliances from General Electric, including the Hotpoint brand in North America, for £2 billion ($3.3 billion). The deal was supposed to close in 2015. But it was canceled.
December 2008
Indesit acquired a stake from General Electric for $57,120,000. In October 2014, Whirlpool acquired a 60% stake in Indesit.
2007
Indesit joined Hotpoint, creating a single Hotpoint Ariston division. In 2007, it was decided to create the Hotpoint-Ariston brand, combining the Hotpoint and Ariston brand names.
2001
GEC was converted to Marconi plc.
1950
Most of the Hotpoint production moved to the GE manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Today, some Hotpoint appliances are manufactured at the Louisville plant.
1929
HEAC joined the Associated Electrical Industries (AEI) group. In 1967 the company became part of the General Electric Company or GEC group. By the 1960s it had become the market leader in Great Britain.

It was renamed the Edison General Electric Company.
1920
A joint venture with General Electric, the Hotpoint Electric Appliance Company Limited (HEAC), was formed to sell GE (USA) branded products in Great Britain.
1918
The Hotpoint Electric Heating Company merged with General Electric's heating appliance division. The company was renamed the Edison Electric Appliance Company.
1912
the company began producing electric irons, and in 1919 electric stoves were launched in the United States.
