Horne Technologies is a company developing a superconduction, high-beta style fusion research device. Their first-generation hybrid reactor prototype produced it's first plasma in 2017 and can be continuously operated. It utilizes high-temperature superconductors with Inertial Electrostatic Heating (IEC), optimized Ion thermalization mitigation in a superconducting, magnetically-shielded grid and high-beta capable fusion core.
Horne Technologies' work on these fusion technologies aims to create optimized solutions for a viable fusion reactor to be used in space and on Earth. Their second-generation prototype is being constructed and will provide the necessary data to determine the scale and parameters required to reach net energy.
Founded in 2008 by CEO Tanner Horne the company is based in Louisville, Colorado. In July 2019, Horne Technologies announced financial support from Free Radical Ventures.
