Google Keep is a note-taking app that is a part of the Google Docs Editors suite offered by Google. The suite includes Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drawings, Google Forms, and Google Sites. Users are able to use Google Keep in different web browsers, or download the app on their Android or iOS devices. The app provides users with different tools for taking notes, like text, lists, images, and audio. Since it is offered by Google, it automatically syncs to Google Drive, and users can access it from different devices like computers, phones, or tablets.

Platform

Google Keep is built into Gmail. Users can add a note by clicking the yellow Keep icon on the far right-hand toolbar. It allows voice notes, which are automatically transcribed as the user speaks. Users can add collaborators to their notes to as well. Finished items in a checklist, for instance, automatically keeps all collaborators updated on the progress so far. Users can add their name and email address or Google group, and remove them when they wish. Notes can be transferred over to Google Docs through the "Send" feature or the copy to Google Docs feature on a desktop. Users can add reminders to each note and set them to repeat. They can also make a reminder pop up when in a certain location by clicking "Remind Me" on the top right of a note.

Time-sensitive notes show up in a user's Google calendar. Photos can be added via the camera or selecting from an existing album. Drawings can be layered on top of pictures, recordings, and checkboxes. Text within uploaded images can be copied at the bottom of the note. As for checkboxes, items are automatically hidden when each is checked off but the note remains unless deleted or archived. Notes can be viewed as a list or as a grid, and the drag and drop option for individual notes helps with re-ordering and re-prioritizing. There's an additional color-coding option for differentiation. Labels can be added, and notes can be pinned, searched for, copied, and archived. The app gives suggestions as a user types. Sub-items can also be added to checklists.
