Georgy Shonin (August 3, 1935 - April 6, 1997) was a Soviet aircraft pilot, astronaut, and military personnel. Shonin was born in Rovenky and held citizenship in the Soviet Union. He was educated at Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy.
Throughout his career, Shonin received numerous awards, including Hero of the Soviet Union, Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR, Order of Lenin, Order of the October Revolution, and Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
