George R. R. Martin, born as George Raymond Martin, is an American author, screenwriter, film and television producer, contributing editor, playwright, and novelist. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on September 20, 1948, and holds citizenship in the United States. Martin is most well-known for his series of epic fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, which includes titles such as A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons.
Martin attended Marist High School in New Jersey and later went on to study at Northwestern University and Medill School of Journalism. His works span across genres such as science fiction and fantasy. Some of Martin's other notable works include Dying of the Light, The Armageddon Rag, and A Song for Lya.
