FriendlyData is an application programming interface (API). It provides natural language interface and allowing users to access and parse databases. Their interface translates human language into SQL query and returns data in JSON format, allowing business to increase user engagement and employee productivity with natural language interface for databases.
Alex Zaytsav, Alexey Zenovich and Michael Rumiancaŭ founded FriendlyData in May 2016 in San Francisco California. It has has offices in New York City, New York and Minsk, Belarus.
In 2017, FriendlyData participated in the 500 Startups accelerator, part of the 500 Startups Batch 20, where they raised $150,000 in funding.
Announced in October, 2018, ServiceNow acquired FriendlyData to integrate their natural language query technology (NLQ) in ServiceNow's Now Platform.
The Now Platform includes applications for IT, human resources, security operations and customer service management. With NLQ capabilities, companies using the ServiceNow platform will be able to ask technical questions in plain English and receive direct answers.
