Etta James, born Jamesetta Hawkins on January 25, 1938, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and singer. She was born in Los Angeles and later attended Jefferson High School in Los Angeles. Her music career spanned various genres, including jazz, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, soul music, gospel music and blues. Throughout her career, she was widely known by her pseudonym, Etta James, as well as her nickname, Miss Peaches.
Etta James received numerous awards and recognitions, including Grammy Awards, the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album, and the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She held citizenship in the United States and was a prominent figure in the music industry during her lifetime.
Etta James passed away on January 20, 2012, in Riverside, California.
