Dune is an Oslo-based company that has developed a data platform that can be utilized for cryptocurrency analytics. It was founded in 2018 and has completed several funding rounds. In 2022, the company reached unicorn status after a Series B funding round making it valued at $1,000,000,000.
Dune is a community-based platform on which the dashboards are developed and used by analysts called "Dune Wizards."They can use the platform to develop dashboards for cryptocurrency projects and view dashboards that have been made by others. The dashboards show information related to topics such as decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and yield farming and are created with Structured Query Language (SQL).
Blockchain data is used as metrics for the dashboards, and it is displayed with graphs and bar charts. The platform supports Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Optimism, Gnosis Chain, and any smart contracts created on those blockchains. Since information about crypto projects is constantly changing, the dashboards are refreshed whenever someone clicks to view them. Refreshing can take some time, as it is done in the order in which it is requested. There is a premium version of Dune that can be utilized by paying a monthly subscription fee, and that version allows users to skip the queue for refreshing, thus having up-to-date information immediately.
The community is free for platform use, and there is a business option for the platform that is $390 per month per user.
