The Dneprodzerzhinsky car repair plant was founded in February 1965 for the overhaul of the Czechoslovak Tatra and Skoda cars that arrived in the USSR.
With the launch of the second stage of the plant, in 1970 the enterprise mastered the overhaul of Ikarus buses. In the 1980s, the overhaul of the Ikarus became the main activity of the plant.
In 1994, the enterprise was transformed into OJSC "Dneprodzerzhinsk Automobile Repair Plant".
In 1998, the plant mastered the production of its own buses DAZ-3220 "Dnipro" on the chassis of GAZ trucks and its modifications with a carburetor engine DAZ-3221.
In October 1999, the plant received 2 million hryvnias of state funding for the development of the production of small class buses.
In 2001, the enterprise was renamed into OJSC "Dneprodzerzhinsk Bus Plant". In the same year, a small-capacity bus DAZ-3240 "Dnipro" was implemented on the chassis of the IVECO Turbo Daily car. The bus did not go into the series, and remained to work at the plant.
In 2003, Lviv Bus Plant OJSC was transformed into Lviv Automobile Plant CJSC (the Dnipro Bus Plant became a branch). Technological equipment for LAZ-695N buses was transferred to DAZ and production of LAZ-695N, LAZ-695NG and LAZ-695D was started. As part of the state program of Ukraine "School Bus", DAZ implemented its own version of a school bus based on LAZ-695N.
In 2007, on the basis of the Lviv Bus Plant, the holding company "LAZ" was created (the structure of which included the Lviv and Dnipro Bus Plants, the Nikolaev Machine-Building Plant, the trading house "Ukrainian Commercial Vehicles", the service company "Bus-Service" and the leasing company LAZ Finance.
The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the activities of the plant, which in 2008 stopped the production of buses and was idle from February to August 2009, in September 2009 resumed production activities, repairing buses, but in the winter of 2010 - 2011 was on the verge of closing.
In March 2011, the plant's production facilities were redesigned for the production of new buses and in June 2011 the plant began production of CityLAZ-12 buses.
In 2012, the plant mastered the production of ambulances based on the Renault Master van. From January 1 to early June 2012, the plant produced 8 buses and 5 ambulances.
In March 2013, the management of the LAZ holding decided to transfer the production of LAZ city buses from the Lviv Bus Plant to Dneprodzerzhinsk and stop the production of ambulances at the Dnipro Bus Plant.
- DAZ-3220 "Dnipro" - a small capacity bus with a diesel engine on the GAZ-3309 chassis.
- DAZ-3221 "Dnipro" - a small-capacity bus with a carburetor engine on the GAZ-3307 chassis.
- LAZ-695 is a bus of medium capacity. Passenger LAZ-695N with a carburetor engine, LAZ-695T with a diesel engine, LAZ-695NG with gas equipment and school LAZ-695N were produced.
- LAZ-A183F0 - low-floor city bus with a diesel engine.
