Darnitsa is a Ukrainian pharmaceutical corporation and one of the leading pharmaceutical producers in Ukraine. The company is a leading producer of pharmaceuticals by volume in Ukraine. Company’s portfolio includes more than 250 names of medical products: vaccines, drops, powders, infusions and more.
The company was founded in 1930 in Kiev, Ukraine, when a branch of the Ukrainian Institute of Endocrinology was opened. Later the branch became a separate enterprise – Darnitsa Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant.
Since 1994, The Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant Darnitsa has been reorganized into CJSC Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company.
In 2002 Darnitsa was one of the first Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies to implement the international quality standards GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). In 2012, the form of ownership changed from closed to a private joint-stock company.
In September 2018 former deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmytro Shymkiv chaired the board of the PrJSC "Pharmaceutical Firm "Darnitsa" managing company.
Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company entered the Top-20 most innovative companies of Ukraine in 2016 according to Forbes Ukraine magazine. The company was repeatedly nominated for Choice of the Year and was in the top-3 of the best employers of Ukraine. In 2018, "Darnitsa" was included in the top five of the rating "The Most Expensive Brands of Ukraine" of the magazine "Korrespondent".In 2018, Darnitsa increased net profit by 31% compared to 2017 – up to 449.1 million UAH (16.7 million USD). Net income from sales of products for this period increased by 18,7% – to 3 billion UAH (111.1 million USD).In 2019 Darnitsa’s net profit increased by 30%. In comparison to 2018 net sales revenue increased by 10,3% - to USD 123,419 million. Darnitsa’s income tax in 2019 was USD 4,5 million
During the COVID-19 epidemics in Ukraine Darnitsa bought 6 lung ventilators and presented them to the Ukrainian hospitals. The company also joined to the nationwide fundraising campaign aimed to buy 50 lug ventilators. The fundraiser started on March 20 2020 on initiative of Zagoriy Foundation and Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace.
