Autio

Autio is an application developed for travel with location-based audio stories. Autio was founded as HearHere, by CEO Woody Sears, Bill Werlin, and Kevin Costner. The application specializes in sharing stories related to the economic, geographical, artistic, political, historical, and mythological aspects of places along the roads across America. This is intended to help listeners learn more about America, with a deeper understanding of the places they drive by and their connections to each other.

Stories on the application have been narrated by various storytellers, including Kevin Costner and John Lithgow, and have a focus on storytelling to set itself apart from other travel audio apps. The stories on the app range from two to four minutes in length and offer listeners information regarding points of interest on the map.

Through the application, users can enable location access and explore stories for nearby locations when traveling. When not traveling, the user can click on various locations across a map of the United States. Free accounts are available with access to five stories, and paid accounts offer unlimited access.
