Anna Wintour, in full Dame Anna Wintour, (born November 3, 1949, London, England), British editor who, as the longtime editor in chief (1988– ) of American Voguemagazine, became one of the most powerful figures in fashion.Wintour was the daughter of Charles Vere Wintour, who twice served as editor of London’s Evening Standard newspaper. She dropped out of North London Collegiate in 1966 and four years later became a fashion assistant for Harper’s & Queen magazine. After working as a fashion editor for a series of New York magazines, she served as editor (1986) of British Vogue and as editor (1987) of House & Garden, which she controversially relaunched in the United States as HG.

Since 2003, she has become known outside the fashion world as the prototype of the main character of the book and film "The Devil Wears Prada". Former personal assistant Lauren Weisberger wrote the novel in 2003 based on personal experience with Anna Wintour. The novel became a bestseller, and in 2006 a film of the same name was made based on it. The role of Miranda Priestly, who, by all accounts, was copied from Anna Wintour, was brilliantly performed by Meryl Streep.

The next time Wintour was in the spotlight was in 2009 after the release of the documentary "September Issue". In this film, many secrets of preparing for the publication of Vogue magazine were revealed, the filming process and fragments of Anna Wintour's meeting with investors were shown.
