Andreas Papandreou was a Greek and American politician and economist. Born in Chios, Greece, on February 5, 1919, he was a citizen of both Greece and the United States. Andreas was the son of Georgios Papandreou, a prominent Greek politician, and the father of George Papandreou, also a Greek politician.
Papandreou received his education from various institutions, including the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities), Athens College, and Harvard University. Throughout his career, he primarily focused on politics, but he also worked as an economist in both Greece and the United States.
In Greek politics, Papandreou became the founder of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). PASOK was also one of the organizations he was affiliated with during his lifetime.
Andreas Papandreou passed away in Ekali, Greece, on June 23, 1996.
