On 30 September 2010, Altar Games was acquired by fellow IDEA Games member Bohemia Interactive. Bohemia promised that the acquired companies, including Altar, will continue to operate individually. Former Altar has become Bohemia's Brno studio, working first on ArmA 3. In 2017, Bohemia announced a sequel to Altar's cult classic Original War. Altar founder Martin Klíma had earlier left to produce Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising for Codemasters and then co-founded Warhorse Studios. Ex-Altar lead artist and creative director Tomáš Kučerovský (Original War, UFO: Aftermath) became a successful comic book author.
Altar Games closed and discontinued operations in 2010.
